EVgo Reservations™ FAQs

The EVgo Reservations™ program gives you peace of mind that a charger will be available at your destination on your schedule. Anyone with an EVgo account can reserve chargers in advance at participating locations.

How do I find a charger to reserve?

From the EVgo app, you can find chargers that accept reservations by using your filters. From the map filters, scroll until you see Only Show Stations with EVgo Reservations™ and tap the checkbox.

You can also find a list of participating locations on the EVgo Reservations™ page.

 

How do I know if a charger takes reservations?

As the EVgo Reservations™ program continues to grow, it's best to use your filters or check the reservations page for chargers that take reservations.

Once you've opened the location details on the EVgo app, you can scroll to see the available charging stations at the location. Any chargers that accept reservations will have a Reserve Charger button under its EVgo name.

How do I know if a charger is reserved?

From the Reserve Charger screen, you can View Reservations Schedule to see any upcoming reservations.

If you are looking to start a charging session at a station that has been reserved by another EVgo customer, then the station will appear as Busy and you will not be able to start a charge.

 

Are all chargers at the designated locations reservable?

At this time, the EVgo Reservations™ program is in a pilot phase. For now, only one charger at each participating location is reservable. We'll be sure to keep our community updated as the program expands!

 

How do I make a reservation?

We recommend that you make a charger reservation from the EVgo app on your mobile device. After you tap the charging location to open the charger details, you can:

  1. Locate the reservable charger (scrolling as needed)
  2. Tap the Reserve Charger button under its EVgo name
  3. Select your connector
  4. Select Reserve Now or Reserve Future Date
    • Reserve Now: Reserve the charger for 20 minutes upon your confirmation
    • Reserve Future Date: Select a date and time you'd like to reserve the charger
    • If Reserve Now or Reserve Future Date are grayed out, then you will not be able to use those options at this time. This means either the charger is in use, already reserved, under maintenance, or unable to accept future reservations.
  5. Tap Next to review and confirm the details of your reservation
  6. Tap Confirm Reservation when everything looks correct!

After you arrive at the station, pull up the charger details and tap Start Reserved Session!

At this time, Future reservations can only be made on the EVgo web portal (account.evgo.com). If you would like to make a reservation from your EVgo account on a web browser, please select the specific station from our list of EVgo Reservations™ Locations; you cannot filter for reservable chargers on account.evgo.com. You'll be taken to the reservable charger's Details page. After you select the plug type for your vehicle, you'll see the option to Reserve the charger.

 

 

How much does it cost to make a reservation?

If you are enrolled in EVgo Plus™ or EVgo PlusMax™ plans, then there is no cost to make a reservation. For all other plans, there is a $3 fee to reserve a charger.

Important note: You can cancel a reservation with no penalty if you cancel within 5 minutes of making it. If a session is not initiated during the 20-minute grace period, there is a $5 No-Show Fee (in addition to the original reservation fee, if applicable). 

 

How far in advance can I reserve a charger?

Your reservation time will depend on how you reserved the charger. When you select Reserve Now,  the charger will be reserved for a 20-minute window from the time you confirm. This is typically just enough time to arrive at the station and prevent anyone else from using it while you're on the way!

If you select Reserve Future Date, you'll have the option to reserve some chargers up to 2 weeks in advance.

At this time, Future reservations can only be made on the EVgo web portal (account.evgo.com). If you would like to make a reservation from your EVgo account on a web browser, please select the specific station from our list of EVgo Reservations™ Locations; you cannot filter for reservable chargers on account.evgo.com. You'll be taken to the reservable charger's Details page. After you select the plug type for your vehicle, you'll see the option to Reserve the charger.

 

How long will the charger be held for me?

The charger will be held for 20 minutes after your reserved start time; if you selected Reserve Now, the 20 min window will begin as soon as you confirm your reservation. If those 20 minutes pass without starting the charge, the charger will be made available for all other EV drivers. You will also be charged a $5 No-Show Fee (in addition to the original reservation fee, if applicable). 

 

How long is my reserved charging session?

EVgo Reservations™ will reserve the charger for 20 minutes after you confirm the reservation. This means that you have 20 minutes upon confirmation to arrive at the station and start your charge if you chose to Reserve Now. If you chose to Reserve Future Date, then the reservation period will end 20 minutes after your reservation time.

All charging sessions have a maximum charge time of 60 minutes or until the battery is full.

 

Can I cancel a reservation?

Yes, you can cancel a reservation within the first 5 minutes of confirming at no penalty.

To cancel a reservation, you can do so directly from the charger details where you made the reservation by tapping Cancel Reservation. You can also cancel a reservation from your account by tapping the main menu > Reservations > the reservation you'd like to cancel > Cancel Reservation.

 

What happens if I miss my reservation at a charger?

You can cancel a reservation with no penalty if you cancel within 5 minutes of confirming. Otherwise, if a session is not initiated during the 20-minute grace period, there is a $5 No-Show Fee*.

*This policy applies regardless of your EVgo plan. If your plan allows you to make free reservations, you will be charged a $5 fee if you miss that reservation; if you paid to make the reservation, you will be charged the $5 fee in addition to your original $3 reservation fee if you miss the reservation.

We do understand that unforeseen circumstances may prevent you from charging within your reservation window. If your reserved charger is blocked or the charger won't initiate your session, the EVgo Charging Crew is ready to help. Please don't hesitate to give us a call: 877-494-3833

 

What do I do if someone is parked where I’ve reserved a charger?

While your reservation will prevent anyone else from starting a charge at the station, it's possible that someone was already parked in the charging stall and completed charging before your reservation began. If you're unable to park at the charger and start your session, please call the EVgo Charging Crew as soon as possible: 877-494-3833

 

What happens if I can’t start the charger at my reserved spot?

Please be sure to call the EVgo Charging Crew as soon as possible! The team is available 24/7 at 877-494-3833, and we may be able to help you start the charge and prevent any No-Show Fee. If we can’t get you started within that window, then we can proactively help to remove any no-show fees from your account.

 

Where can I review reservations I have made?

You can review your upcoming reservations from the EVgo app:

  1. From the landing page, tap the menu icon () in the top left
  2. Select Reservations toward the bottom of the Main Menu panel
  3. Tap any reservation for more details and the option to cancel it

Not seeing a reservation you've made?

Be sure you confirmed your EVgo Reservations™! Because extra fees may apply in making a reservation (depending on your plan), you're asked to confirm the reservation details after selecting your options.
