How do I charge my electric vehicle?

Icon Plug-In

To get started, open your charge port. Check your owner’s manual or port to determine whether your vehicle uses the CHAdeMO or the CCS Combo connector.

Plug your connector into the charge port until it clicks firmly into place. (*Click!*)

*Drivers of Tesla Models 3/X/S/Y can also fast charge with EVgo using a CHAdeMO adapter or a Tesla connector at EVgo locations in San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA and Seattle, WA.

To initiate your charge, swipe right on the EVgo app screen. You can also use your EVgo program card or your own credit card to initiate a charge.

Once the charger has been activated, your screen will show that the charger is in use.

Now you’re free to run your errands, grab a bite to eat or enjoy a short break from your day.

Note: You'll need to set up an account with EVgo to initiate a charging session with the app or program card. Most EVgo stations also offer the option of a one-time charging session with credit card payment.

When you’re ready to hit the road, return to the charger and stop your session.

If your session ends before you get back, you will receive a mobile alert.

Push the button forward to release the connector and replace the connector in its holster.

Pro Tip: Fast charging works best until you reach 80% charged; if you would like to continue charging after that, we recommend shifting to a Level 2 charger.
