About RFID Program Cards

Although we recommend using the EVgo app whenever possible, an RFID program is an alternative option to start a charge. When used, it will immediately tie that charging session to your EVgo account with no further action needed.

After you receive your RFID Program Card, you MUST activate the card before you can use it.  Similar to a credit card, we send you an inactive RFID Program Card for your security. After the RFID Program Card is activated, it will be fully tied to your EVgo account and ready to use as a charging payment method.

Expecting your first RFID Program Card

Before you order an RFID card, be sure that the mailing address on your EVgo account is accurate. You'll always receive an email notification as soon as the card is sent to you, however, please allow 10-14 business days to receive the cards. You can always contact the EVgo Charging Crew if you have any concerns about receiving your RFID Program Card.

Every plan includes 3 complementary RFID Program Cards

For every primary EVgo account, we include 3 free RFID Program Cards. You can request a new RFID Program Card for any reason. Many of our members will request additional RFID Program Cards:

Important note:

Please ensure the mailing address on your EVgo account is accurate before ordering a new RFID Program Card. An outdated mailing address can cause significant delays in the arrival of your new card.

If you need more than 3 RFID Program Cards for your account, additional cards can be ordered for $10 each.

Using your RFID Program Card

After you have received and activated your EVgo RFID Program Card, you can use it to quickly start a charging session. The RFID Program Card is a great backup if you are charging in a location with a poor signal or simply prefer to start a charging session without using your mobile device.

Lost or stolen RFID Program Cards

Your EVgo RFID Program Card is tied directly to your EVgo account. This means that anyone using your active RFID Program Card at an EVgo charger will be able to charge using your account and payment method. If you suspect your RFID Program Card is lost or stolen, you should suspend or deactivate the card immediately

  • Suspending your RFID Program Card will allow you to reactivate it if you find it at a later date.
  • Deactivating the card completely will remove it from your account entirely.

After suspending or deactivating your RFID Program Card, you can always start a charging session using the EVgo app on your mobile device or request a new Program Card
