Add your vehicle to your EVgo account

When you add your vehicle to your EVgo account, your experience becomes much more streamlined. Not only will we automatically filter your searches for your vehicle's charging port, but you might also be able to access benefits like Autocharge+.

EVgo allows you to save specific details about your vehicle. Select the platform you're using below for more specific details and options on adding your vehicle to your profile:

The EVgo network supports CHAdeMO, SAE Combo, CCS, and Tesla fast-charging connectors and the J1772 Level 2 connector. Certain approved adapters may be supported as well. Learn more about compatible adapters in our article: Adapter Best Practices

 

 

Quick tips from the EVgo Charging Crew:

  • Add your vehicle(s) on the EVgo app if you plan to search for chargers on the go. This will ensure that you'll always find a location that meets your needs when you search for nearby charging stations.
    • The EVgo web portal does not sync vehicle profiles to the mobile app at this time.
  • If your vehicle make/model is not an option, let us know! Jump to more details on possible workarounds and how to best notify the team

Add your vehicle on the EVgo app

If you plan to search for charging locations on the go, it's best to add your vehicle(s) on the EVgo app. After your vehicle is added to your account manually or using the VIN, the map will automatically filter for locations that will work for the vehicle assigned to you!

 

Important tips:

  • Do you need to change the make, model, or year of the vehicle? You'll need to remove your previous vehicle profile and add a new vehicle to ensure that the exact vehicle is added to your EVgo account. 
  • Are you interested in enrolling in Autocharge+? Be sure to add your vehicle's VIN to the vehicle profile! This ensures that your EVgo account is tied to your specific vehicle for any charging sessions which initiate automatically.

  • If you plan to assign the vehicle to a specific Member user on your EVgo account, then we recommend giving the vehicle a nickname! You can find more information on editing a vehicle nickname or removing it in our article: Edit or Delete a vehicle in your EVgo account

 

 

Add your EV on the EVgo app (using the VIN)

To most quickly and accurately add your vehicle, you can scan your VIN using the EVgo app.

 

You'll first want to locate the VIN for your vehicle; we recommend scanning the VIN barcode or QR code located on the driver's side door jamb. You can also find the VIN on the DMV registration, Insurance card, or engine compartment (for hybrid vehicles).

  1. From the landing page, tap the menu icon () in the top left
  2. Select Vehicles toward the bottom of the Main Menu panel
  3. Tap the yellow (+) icon on the top right
  4. Under Add your VIN, tap Add Vehicle by VIN
  5. Provide the vehicle's VIN by:
    • Scanning: 
      1. Tap Scan VIN
      2. Allow access for EVgo to access your device's camera if you have not already done so
      3. EVgo will automatically scan the VIN when the app recognizes
    • Entering VIN manually:
      1. Tap Enter VIN Manually under the Scan VIN button
      2. Enter the vehicle's VIN
      3. Tap Add VIN
  6. Confirm details on the Customize your vehicle screen
  7. Tap Save Vehicle

Add your EV on the mobile app (manually)

While we recommend adding your vehicle using its VIN, you can also add the vehicle details manually:

  1. From the landing page, tap the menu icon () in the top left
  2. Select Vehicles toward the bottom of the Main Menu panel
  3. Tap the add vehicle icon on the Vehicles screen
    • For Apple users, tap the yellow (+) icon on the top right
    • For Android users, tap the Add Vehicle button
  4. Under Search Vehicle, begin entering the make and model of your vehicle
    • As your type more details, EVgo's system will auto-populate possible vehicle matches
  5. Select the option which matches the make, model, and year of your vehicle
  6. From the Customize your vehicle screen, you can add an optional Nickname for easy recognition of your vehicle within your EVgo account
  7. When everything looks good, tap Save Vehicle

Add your vehicle on the web (account.evgo.com)

  1. From the landing page, hover over the Profile drop-down
  2. Select Vehicles at the bottom of the menu options
    • If you click Profile, you can then click Vehicles from the left-hand navigation panel
  3. Click Add Vehicle from the top of the navigation panel on the left
  4. Provide the required details to add the vehicle to your profile
    • Select the Make to populate the available plug-in Models
    • Provide the Year of your vehicle
    • Your License Plate details are optional
    • Confirm whether you privately own the vehicle
  5. Click + Create Vehicle to save the vehicle

If your vehicle's make/model is not an option in the EVgo system yet

Our team regularly updates the EVgo app and web portal whenever new EV models are released, however, it's certainly possible that we've missed one given how quickly the industry is growing!

If you are unable to add the correct model for your vehicle, then please submit a request to the EVgo Charging Crew. You'll be prompted to provide the below details, and the team will ensure your vehicle model is added to our system and to your account!

  • Make (manufacturer)
  • Model 
  • Year
  • VIN
 
Important tip!

If you are unable to add your exact vehicle, you can add a similar vehicle (same model or manufacturer) to access the benefits of adding a vehicle profile to your EVgo account. Most models and many manufacturers use the same plug type(s), so we recommend adding what you can! Let the EVgo Charging Crew know that you've added a temporary vehicle profile, and they'll know to make edits internally once your specific make, model, and year are available in your account.
